The
Rotary Club of Southampton
was founded in the early days of Rotary--the 21st Club
to be chartered on this side of the Atlantic and only
13 years after the World Founder, Paul Harris, started
the Rotary Movement in Chicago in 1905.
|
Within our membership have been numerous notable
Rotarians, who have made significant
contributions to the well-being of both our City
and its citizens. |
|
Our
history relates countless tales of acts of
Service to the Community, of fund raising, and
of friendship and social events enjoyed by the
members. For many years we have been the largest
and most active of all the Clubs in District
1110 (bowing only to Portsmouth and Southsea
Club in terms of seniority) and today, although
smaller than a few years ago, we can still boast
a vibrant membership, including many members who
have been fully active for many decades.
